Well, the answer isn't really as simple as that.  While the iPad doesn't have an actual HDMI port built-in you can get HDMI functionality and play movies, tv etc on a larger screen by using the Apple Digital AV Adaptor.    You can buy it at the Apple store online HERE.

Yep, without adapters you wouldn't have it so great. The original adaptors from Apple are so expensive tho. Amazon and eBay are your friends here...

Edit: Oh I forgot to mention, although you can find cheap adaptors someplace else, not all of them work properly without installing a tweak (can't remember the name) from Cydia, which means that you have to be jailbroken.
